Mercedes Benz sold the most expensive car in the world

         The most expensive car in the world was sold for €135 million, the equivalent of $142 million. The price is known as the most expensive car that has ever been sold. A very rare 1955 Mercedes-Benz SLR coupe was kept in the collection of German automakers. Mercedes announced that money will be used to establish the Mercedes-Benz Fund. The identity, who bought the most expensive car, remains a mystery. Simon Kidston placed the winning bid on behalf of a client, but unfortunately he declines to tell the identity of this person. However, he mentioned that the buyer is an enthusiast first and foremost and not an investor. He added that it is a person who loves the car and the buyer has never asked him the possible price of a car in the future.

         There were only 2 items of 300 SLR Unlenhaut Coupe. The 67-year-old cars were named for Mercedes chief engineer at that time, Rudolf Unlenhaut. The closed auction took a part in Stuttgart, in Mercedes-Benz Museum on May 5. 

          According to Mercedes-Benz announcement, another Unlenhaut Coupe will stay in the Museum’s collection.
